Yaroslava Yanova, or Egyptian Mau, is a Ukrainian-born abstract artist based in Cyprus. I work in gestural abstraction. My paintings begin where language thins out, in the instant when the hand moves before thought. I use acrylics, ink, and spray paint to keep the mark quick and honest. Most pieces are on canvas, 40×40–65×90 cm.
I’m drawn to the tension between chaos and clarity, noise and quiet. Each work is not a story but a response,
a state that shifts and refuses to settle.
